Carbon Reduction Plan

In 2021, the UK Government introduced requirements for organisations looking to tender in the public sector to outline their organisational emissions, measure their carbon footprint and plan to reach Net Zero before 2050. This popular requirement is now being filtered down the supply chain meaning an increasing number of businesses are being asked to produce a Public Procurement Notice (PPN 06/21) and Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP).

The main purpose of the PPN 06/21 is for UK governments to achieve their Net Zero goals by which public sector organisations can provide a vast amount of support with. Companies can determine the sustainability of their business operations by complying with the measuring, reducing and reporting of emissions that align with the requirements of the standard. When an organisation completes a CRP in accordance with the latest environmental reporting guidance, UK emissions for scopes 1 and 2 must be included along with the subset of 5 scope 3 emissions categories. These scopes must be measured annually and demonstrated within the CRP to declare alignment with the UK governments 2050 Net Zero goals.
