SECR, introduced in 2019, was established to replace the Carbon Reduction Commitment Scheme. It is a legal requirement for large businesses in the UK (as defined in the Companies Act 2006) to report their energy consumption and associated carbon emissions within their financial reporting for Companies House. This refers to your Scope 1 and 2 emissions/energy, plus some narrow Scope 3 reporting.
The standard also requires companies to report on energy efficiency measures and state emissions that align to an intensity metric.
